Parking on campus
Parking permits: Required on the UCSC campus. Please inform Arts & Lectures of the exact number of permits needed for each day you will park on campus. Parking for the Theater Arts and Music Centers is located off of Meyer Drive between the Theater Arts Center and the Music Center. Illegally parked vehicles in loading docks and along the access road to the loading dock may be ticketed or towed at any time. The access road leading to the Theater Arts loading dock is a FIRE LANE and must be kept clear of non-University vehicles at all times. There is metered parking as well as permit parking available in the Performing Arts lot.
Smoking on campus
The campus adopted a policy for a smoke-free environment in April 1990. The policy applies to all individuals on campus, including all nonresidential university buildings and vehicles. Specifically, smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas of all public buildings, as well as near building doorways, windows and ventilation air intakes. Smoking on stage as part of performances is NOT ADVISED AND MAYBE NOT PERMITTED, PLEASE DISCUSS WITH ARTS & LECTURES WELL IN ADVANCE.
Recreational Facilities on campus
Passes for the Office of Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports (OPERS) may be purchased for $5.00 per day. UCSC has two gyms, an Olympic size pool and a dance studio. You may reserve tennis and racquetball courts, use the weight room, and check out equipment and towels. For more information contact OPERS at 459-2531, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. A&L does not provide rec facility passes.
Artist Hospitality
As per standard contract, A&L provides basic backstage hospitality including bottled water, coffee, tea, sodas, juice, and light snacks such as fresh vegetables, fruit and cheese and crackers (no alcohol). However, to better suit the needs of each artist, A&L will attempt to honor specific requests if made in advance.
Merchandise Sales
Arts & Lectures charges 15% commission on sales and a $10/hour labor fee if you require a seller. If your presentation is taking place at an off-campus venue, the house may also require a percentage. Please note, A&L may not be able to provide a seller. Please contact A&L at least 2 weeks prior to performance to discuss.

From Hwy 17 (from San Jose) or Hwy 1 N (From S. Calif.) to the West Entrance of UCSC:
Take Route 1 north (Mission Street) exit.
Turn right onto Mission Street, drive approx 2 mi. to Bay Street.
Turn right onto Bay Street, which runs up to the main entrance of the UCSC campus. DO NOT USE MAIN ENTRANCE.
Turn left onto High Street.
Turn right into into the West Entrance of campus onto Heller Dr.

From Hwy 1 South to the West Entrance:
From Hwy 1 South (Mission Street), turn left onto Western Drive (just as you are entering the north end of town).
Turn left onto Empire Grade.

Continue past four (4) stop signs.
