Master percussion musicians Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Zakir Hussain surround their audiences with exotic raga melodies and heart-racing tabla rhythms, reaching beyond the classical Indian repertoire to embrace the frontiers between contemporary and folk music. One of India’s revered musicians, Sharma restored the ancient, dulcimer-like santoor to prominence in Indian traditional music. Hussain is a classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order. With his uncanny intuition and masterful improvisational dexterity, he has recorded and performed with international stars including Mickey Hart, George Harrison, Ravi Shankar, Van Morrison and Tito Puente.
